The family Drachenblut were so named for being descended from a dragon.
The family Despoinides were revered as being blessed by Hecate and Despoina.
When these two families joined together, they started a bloodline that would be rich in magical power, foster magical skill and focus their efforts on magical research. Those of the bloodline most skilled in magic would explore the arcane and research the magical. Those who were not ensured that the family remained rich and their most important members were well looked after and guarded carefully.
Isidor is in charge of the branch of the family business that was set up primarily to fund Viatorus' research and lifestyle. 'Despoin' is involved in a huge number of things, from construction to security to scientific research. Isidor doesn't have time for troublemakers and runs a tight ship. It's somewhat fitting that her branch specialises in security.
